last week i had one of the coolest sessions yet.  jessica, mike, and isabelle drove from paoli, indiana to have a studio session with us.  it was very special for us to have someone drive 3 hours to come have their portraits taken.  they had some of the cutest outfits for her and her great mood really made the session!  i absolutely love the polka dot dress (thanks to her aunt casey!) we had a great afternoon shooting isabelle and can’t wait for her 6 month session in january.  if you check back to the posts in june you can see pictures from their maternity session!

welcome home justin!

last weekend, it was a very special weekend for my sister and some very close friends of ours.  my sister’s boyfriend came home from an 8 month tour in afghanistan. i was not able to make the reunion but my mom, dad, and his mom and dad (+deanna, of course) went down to north carolina to welcome him home.  we are so proud of him and can not thank him enough for what he has done for our country.  we are very glad that he made it home safe!  here are some of photos from his homecoming: thanks justin! glad to have you back.

emery came back for his 2 year portraits.  he is the coolest dude i know! as some of you know, emery, and his mom were in my wedding in august. i had so much fun with this session, emery has such a great personality and sara loves him more than anything – i think these pictures show it! here are some of my favorites: we brought back the little tux to get some gq photos of this little guy :0)

lindsey’s ballerina session

lindsey had us come out to her dance studio for some pictures of her, as you can see she is a beautiful dancer!  it was a very unique session for me, i enjoyed seeing her warm up and dance, lindsey has the best attitude, she was up for anything and tried some pretty difficult poses while i was there!  i definitely give her props for the amount of time and dedication she has for dancing, it looks exhausting but she was so graceful!  thank you lindsey & kate for inviting me to photograph her at the dance studio, i had a blast!  here are some of my favorites and it was realllly hard to chose!

Wow!! What a fun wedding! The bride, Michelle, looked beautiful, the groom, Joe, was oh so handsome, and the wedding party looked fabulous! on thursday, my fiance and  i enjoyed a 3 hour drive to paoli, indiana to photograph one of my closest friend’s first family photo.  they live in salt lake city, utah right now, scottie is in the air force so it was awesome that we were able to get together while they were home!  we also managed to squeeze in a maternity session with josey’s sister!  it was just in the nick of time because she had her baby the next day!  i had an absolute blast and it was so good to see everyone! here are a few of my favorites from both sessions:

alyson & derek had an awesome wedding & we loved every minute of it! we have had an absolute blast hanging out with them and their family & friends. everyone has been so welcoming and nice, we could not ask for anything more.

we started out the day by taking getting ready pictures in each of their villas. we got a little bit of a late start due to a little hair crisis, but lucky for alyson, the photographer snapped her fingers and turned into a hair stylist. :0) she was cool, calm, and collected through the whole thing. i love how lucky we are to get such amazing brides!

christina & eric were married on saturday! they had their wedding at st. mary’s in dayton, which is one the most beautiful churches i’ve seen!  their bridal party was great, the wedding was great, and we had a blast!  the reception was held at carrillon park so we had great photo-ops at both locations!

yesterday was jessica & kyle’s wedding!  the whole day was absolutely gorgeous.  their ceremony was held at their beautiful church in franklin and the reception was held in the same building right after the ceremony.  i absolutely loved the details of the reception!  they had beautiful flowers and pictures everywhere!  

our family has known jessica for a very long time. me, her, and my sister grew up together.  it was so wonderful seeing her get married to a wonderful guy like kyle!  photographing their day meant so much to us!

christie + jamie

yesterday was very special for me for a couple of reasons. first, two of my very very close friends were married. christie and jamie are a match made in heaven.  second, i was asked by christie to be one of her bridesmaids. this is the very first wedding that i have had the pleasure of standing with two very special people while they commit themselves to each other for eternity.  i was honored. third, i was also asked to be the photographer for their wedding.  this was another first for me and it was a wonderful challenge! i wouldn’t have wanted it any other way!  being a part of their special day was amazing.  christie, you are picture perfect and one of the most laid back brides i’ve ever met! i hope i can be like that on my wedding day! (ha!) – jamie, you are such a lucky guy! you two balance each other out perfectly and i wish you the best!

emily & jake

emily & jake came over on sunday for their engagement photos. we had planned on saturday morning and we got rained out.  i was very glad that we waited and did the pictures on sunday because it was a beautiful day!  we can’t wait for their wedding in june, emily & jake were a lot of fun and full of laughs!

emily went to eku with my sister and they were in the same sorority.  we were so excited when she called us about wedding photography last summer! thanks a bunch for thinking of us!  enjoy my faves!

so last weekend, my future brother in law came home for 2 weeks.  jake left for the army about a year ago and this is the second time he’s been home sense he left.  on saturday, we had a big get together for his home coming.  this ended up being a very special day for him and his girlfriend.  jake proposed to her in front of all of his friends and family.  jake & tonya are so lucky to have each other, they are a perfect match.  we love them very much and we can’t wait until they decide a wedding date.  i took their pictures on friday, jake will be leaving in a couple days for fort bragg.  we wish him the best and we are sooooooo happy for him and tonya!

we took adrian & ryan’s engagement portraits yesterday at cox arboretum. it was a gorgeous day!! we had great light, a fun couple, and no rain (what else could we ask for?).  adrian & ryan brought their two pups, slim & bennie, they are italian greyhounds. we love their names, they reminded us of italian mob gangsters (but much sweeter).  if dogs could talk, they’d have accents. :0) we had a great time photographing their engagement portraits and can not wait for their wedding!

little noah

last night, we had the wonderful pleasure of photographing baby noah.  he was only 11 days old and absolutely adorable!  we’ll be photographing his family again on june 6th for their wedding.  we can’t wait!  here are a few of my favorites, he was such a good little model! :0)

florida

about a week and half ago we were in florida for our spring break. it was a family vacation that we spent in palms coast, florida.  it was about 30 minutes from st. augustine and was absolutely beautiful!  while we were there we were lucky enough to see a full moon rise.  this happens once a month and it was beautiful to photograph. we also got some photos of a few sunrises.  (i like to sleep in on my vacations but my dad has always been an early bird). he got up and took some of the most beautiful sunrises i’ve ever seen!  i just ordered a bunch for my walls.  here are a few of my favorites. can you tell which one is the moon rise? :0) enjoy!

my engagement portraits (session 2)

hey everyone!  sorry we’ve been a little bit absent! we’ve been verrrry busy the past couple of weeks! we are very excited be taking part in a career day at the valley view middle school tomorrow.  we will be taking a little light set up for a mini photo shoot and talking about our careers as photographers! also, we have just launched a new product that we are now offering to our current brides and future brides!  we are offering to you guys a wedding web site! you can view a sample of my wedding web site at: www.nixonjacksonwedding.com - the wedding web site will feature your engagement photos, colors of your wedding, your favorite song, and much much more!  it is a great way to keep your guests updated with wedding plans, details, showers, registries, ect.  so check it out!  

so anyways…last night, we ventured down to covington, kentucky where my wedding will be taking place (at the madison) and took some engagement photos.  this will be our second engagement session (and i’m thinking we’ll have one more) ((when i come back from florida and have a bronzed tan!)) woo hoo!  my dad, (photographer bob) took the photos for us and they turned out great!  here are just a FEW of my favorites. please enjoy! and check out my wedding web site for photos from our first engagement session. :0)

gabby’s senior ambassador shoot 2010!!!

yesterday afternoon we enjoyed photographing gabby! she is one of our senior ambassadors for 2010 from dixie high school. she will have her “rep” book in about 2 weeks so make sure you check it out! gabby is a very beautiful model and we enjoyed going around our town for more of the urban look! :0) hope you enjoy!

baby brady!

i’m so excited to finally get to blog this little boy.  his name is brady and i went to high school with his mom. :0)

on the day of this shoot, we got a new camera (the 5D mark II).  little did we know that we would have to update ALL of our software in order to view the pictures off the camera.  so this blog is a little late but better late than never! i had a blast photographing him, he is a beautiful baby boy and he could not have been more content during the session.  we can’t wait to photograph him more throughout his first year of life. :0)

thanks andra & jeff for bringing him to the studio! it was great!

marcy’s 9 month session!

marcy is one of our most favorite babies! we have been photographing her every 3 months sense she was a newborn.  every time we see her she has changed in so many ways. we absolutely love working with her and her parents!  i had so many favorites from her session, here are my top “pics” :0) hope you enjoy!

grant & his family

yesterday, we had the wonderful pleasure of taking grant’s 1 year old pictures!  he was full of character and cuteness!  we did a few shots with his older brother then added his mom and dad in.  at the end of the session we brought out the cake and balloons! :0) we had a great time photographing him digging into the cake! here are a few of my favorites, let us know what you think!

over christmas, we took my uncle’s family pictures.  we just snapped a few in the studio and it was great!  here are my faves:

dayton bridal expo-sharnett bridal photo shoot

on saturday, we had such a good time shooting photos for sharnett bridal!  these gowns were all modeled in the fashion show at the dayton convention center bridal expo.  i recently ordered my wedding dress and bridesmaids dress from sharnett bridal and they are fabulous!  here are some of the shots we took of the models! thank you to all the models, we had such a good time taking your pictures!! :0)

the best family

the best family came for family pictures on saturday also.  their son, justin, is a marine and was home for christmas.  we had a great time hanging out and visiting with them!  we really appreciate justin’s service for our country and wish him the best of luck during his deployment in the spring.
