There are hundreds of Dayton, Cincinnati & Columbus photographers in the area but only a select few are honored with this award. Brides from the area were asked to rate their vendors on a scale from 1-5 for the following categories: value, service, and quality.  We received a 5 star rating in all of those categories. far too long!

yes, i know it has been far too long sense i have updated this blog with actual posts. we are currently working on starting a new blog. for right now, i’ve been updating our facebook page after every session.  doing both generally takes lots of time so i have been putting my focus on getting proofbooks back, orders in, albums designed, ordering albums, ect, ect, ect in a timely manner and in return the blog has been somewhat neglected. so sorry!  i promise i will be starting to blog more here in the near future! 🙂 so if you’re not a daily facebook user and would like to see what we’ve been up to here is a big post with some of my most recent sessions for newborns. deanna & justin’s wedding part I

sunday my sister got married! to start off this post i need to thank ali gregory for shooting everything i couldn’t at the wedding this weekend.  ali has been shooting all of our 2011 weddings with us and she has blossomed into a great second shooter for us!  ali and i work great together and i was so glad to have her with us the whole weekend.  i got to shoot at my leisure and not stress out about anything. 🙂 thank you ali!

the weekend started off with nails, pedicures, rehersal, rehersal dinner and a meet and great on saturday night (will post those on facebook later this week so check out Nixon photography’s facebook for those) – sunday morning we started hair and make up at 7:30 a.m. and then started pictures! my sister looked gorgeous and justin was the perfect groom.  he helped me out by fixing her dress and doing some of my “moh” duties.  i shot bride and groom pictures, i wouldn’t have had it any other way so he was a super big help with “fluffing” the dress and making sure it never touched the ground unless it needed to.  the whole day went smooth and i don’t think anyone stressed out about anything, we ran right on schedule and got some great shots.  🙂 now for the goods…i am blogging before the ceremony today and tomorrow i will blog some from the ceremony and reception.  all of the images from their wedding will be up and online available for viewing and purchase by the end of the week! enjoy!

landon came for his 9 month session a couple weekends ago, I can’t believe how fast time flies!  This little cutie loves to smile, he’s just so darn cute!  Cant get over it! i was so excited when caitlin contacted me before christmas about getting a gift certificate for family portraits to give to her mom as a gift.  caitlin (and all of their family) were great friends to us as we grew up.  i have some of my most favorite childhood memories with caitlin and my sister!  we picked a date to do a family session for april 17th (and thank goodness we had a beautiful day!).  it was so good to see everyone and we had a truly great time photographing them.  such beautiful families, inside and out. 🙂  here are some of my favorites! enjoy!

emma!

sweet emma came back to the studio for her 3 month session! i think it is so amazing how much they change from newborn to 3 months! (& i always say that about 6 months…and 9…and 1 year) – but babies change a ton during their first year! that’s why it is important to get them photographed every 3 months during their first year. 🙂  emma was full of smiles and i looove her hair accessories that her dad went out and bought for the session! here are a few of my favorites:

baby braylon

i know i am definitely blogging out of order but i can’t resist little newborn babies, especially this cutie.  braylon is 14 days old today and we photographed him this morning.  he was a perfect little sleeping angel, he did wonderful with his first photo shoot! what a model.  🙂 i am so excited to start shooting more newborns, if you’re interested in booking a session it is best to contact me before you deliver and set up an appointment within the first week of your due date to garuntee availability.  these sessions are best to be schedule between 5-12 days old. here are my favorites:

i had been so excited about photographing amanda and brian’s wedding! first of all, it was our first wedding of 2011 so naturally you have that initial excitement! second of all, amanda and brian are awesome! and third, we introduced a new photographer to the nixon group, ali. she did a phenomenal job and she even made it into the bloggers! 🙂 we had such a fun time at their engagement session i knew their wedding was going to be fabulous!  amanda & brian were married at the yankee trace country club, they had their wedding ceremony and reception there.  it was gorgeous!  the day went so smooth, it was flawless!  we had a great time working with them throughout their whole wedding planning process and the day of!

i was so excited for andrew’s 9 month session.  he is the second kids klub member from this family and has been so neat taking his picture every three months!  for his sister’s 6 month session we went to their house and took pictures in her bedroom.  we thought it would be perfect to do the same for andrew!  he is such a happy baby and it was so much fun to do something different!  here are my favorites from his session, enjoy!

chicago engagement session

we went to chicago in november with elliot & laura for some fun engagement portraits.  they wanted something different and unique for their portraits and chicago was definitely it!  with our busy holiday season our blog has been a bit neglected so i am glad to finally get a chance to blog their portraits.  we had a blast going from place to place in downtown chicago, we started out at millenium park, shot some at the bean and then headed over to navy pier.  after navy pier we had to take a little break and do a little shopping (who goes to chicago without doing a little shopping?!)  🙂  then, on our way to dinner that evening we shot some classy evening portraits downtown.  here are some of my favorites from their session, i cant wait for their wedding in june.  enjoy!

family!

we love this family! we started photographing for this family back when leah had her senior pictures taken (3 years ago), and then we started photographing for her sister Lauren when they had their ever so precious baby, Austin.  This year, we had the opportunity to take their whole family portrait. 🙂 They are such a nice and sweet family, it was a perfect session for a Saturday afternoon in the fall.  Sorry that it has taken me a little longer to blog you guys, it’s been a busy fall so the blog has been a bit neglected! sizemore fairies

this fall, we have been photographing a lot of our sessions out at the sizemore farm/pumpkin patch off of 725.  their facility is so photogenic and the people there are absolutely fantastic. they graciously welcomed us to their farm and let us photograph wherever we would like everytime we came and never got tired of us being there! 🙂 well, i was so excited when pam asked me to come photograph her 3 grandaughters out in their woods.  little did i know that it would be one of the most memorable and FUN kids sessions I’d ever taken.  these little girls were not only adorable and sweet but they had the greatest imaginations ever.  they were all dressed as little fairies, they definitely played the part!  they weren’t getting their pictures taken that day, they were playing fairies. i love it!

last saturday we had a very fun day at lara & kevin’s wedding.  my husband, joe and i shot the wedding together (which was also a lot of fun working together!).  lara and i played soccer together for 4 years in high school. it was really neat seeing her get married, she was so gorgeous, i will even admit i got a little emotional watching her walk down the aisle.  we had great weather and gorgeous blue skies! (which looked great with the car, especially the ones when i was literally hanging out of my car window going 65 mph!!) – here are some of my favorites from the day! kevin and lara: thank you so much for having us be such a big part of your day!

it was great getting to photograph amanda & brian!  they are a very laid back couple and you can tell they are just perfect for each other.  amanda is going to be a GORGEOUS bride, it has been such a pleasure to work with them thus far, i just cant wait til their wedding in march. 🙂 (and don’t worry amanda, i won’t make you crawl through too much on the wedding day!) haha. here are some of my faves:enjoy!!!!

Brittany is a senior from Valley View! – she was such a blast to photograph, very upbeat, giggley and fun. she is a cheerleader for varsity football and basketball.  we loved all the accessories she brought with her to shoot, it made her session all about her and her personality!!  hear are some of my faves, i couldn’t help but love the ones when she is laughing!:

curt+mandy+baby

i was so excited to meet mandy & curt.  a friend of theirs bought a gift certificate for them for one of mandy’s baby showers. when she bought the gift certificate she told me that she wanted to get her something different, unique and something that she would use. i thought it was great, pictures are one of the best gifts anyone can receive – they last forever and it is beautiful to able capture all the major stages in your lives. 🙂 okay, that is my mush for the day

curt & mandy – you guys are too cute! i can’t wait to take your second family portrait when the little one comes!  thanks so much for bearing the heat, climbing through lots of tall grass and laughing through it all! 🙂  you two are going to be amazing parents. we’re so excited to capture the first year of baby’s life.

my cousin emily came to the studio last week for her senior session! i can’t believe she’s a senior already! we reserved the whole day for her so we could have  a great time and get awesome shots! she has such a beautiful personality, i showed her and my aunt julie a few of the shots on the back of the camera and without a doubt it just didn’t look like “emily” if she wasn’t smiling!  thanks emily & aunt julie for traveling down to the studio for her shoot, it was nice hanging out and photographing! 🙂 love you guys!

while in paoli, we got to take cydney’s pictures again!  we went to spring mill and they had some very neat buildings and places to shoot. 🙂  it was soooo hot that day, we were all very thankful for the freezing cold spring water we got to dip our feet into at the end. here are some of my favorites! can’t wait to see cydney here at the studio in october!

daniel is a 2011 senior from centerville.  i was very excited when i got the phone call from his mom, sally.  we work a lot with sally at benham’s grove when we shoot weddings there. she is always a pleasure to work with and i was very excited to be photographing her son’s senior pictures!
